W?rtsil? water quality system
The Wärtsilä Water Quality System (WQS) filters the seal and bearing flush water supply to the required OEM supplier standards, helping to increase seal and bearing life by removing particulates and abrasives in the raw water supply. By installing a Wärtsilä Water Quality System, the ship operator is able to control the supply of water flow, pressure and temperature to the seal and bearing whilst providing alarms and warnings of unfavorable conditions.
The Wärtsilä Water Quality System can be combined with Wärtsilä's electronic wear down gauge to provide ship operators with an accurate measurement of bearing wear without the need for poker gauge (diver) measurements. This can also be combined with Wärtsilä's Sea-Master monitoring system which can enable vessels to achieve extended tail shaft withdrawal periods, reducing drydocking schedules and cost.
Raw water supplied from the vessel's sea chest or other external sources is pre-strained to remove particles large than 5mm. Using cyclone technology, entrained particles are removed and ejected overboard on pre-determined intervals. The resultant water is pumped into the stern tube to provide filtered flushing and lubricating water to the vessels' seals and bearings. Once passed down the stern tube, the conditioned water is simply passed back to source.
A range of pumped and/or filtered supply systems for open and closed loop water applications are available on request.
